It is April 23-26 in Orlando, Florida. Early bird registration is $129 (until February 15th), then the price goes up to $149.

We just heard a very powerful presentation from Matt Chandler, senior pastor serving The Village Church in Highland Village, TX. He describes his 3 year tenure at The Village as a re-planting effort where he is involved in changing the theological and philosophical culture of the congregation. The church has grown from 160 people to over 3000 during the past 3 years. Matt is also involved in church planting efforts both locally and internationally through The Village and various strategic partnerships. His session is titled Gravity: The Weight of Pastoring and the Knowledge of Christ.

Tim Keller, senior pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City is speaking tonight at the Reform & Resurge Conference on Being the Church in Our Culture. A comprehensive handout was provided that more fully explains the points. Dr. Keller will present 3 sessions during the conference. Session 2 is titled Preaching the Gospel. Session 3 is titled Doing Justice. A summary of the main points of Session 1 is included below – Being the Church in Our Culture. Joshua Harris just completed a great session on Humble Orthodoxy. He’s engaged in a Q&A session with other pastors now. Here’s a summary of the talk. You can get the entire audio and video presentation on the Resurgence website. (It is not available on the website yet - keep checking!)

I don’t hear this discussion every day. Joshua Harris was asked about how it’s working serving as senior pastor while C.J. Mahaney is resident at the church as pastor emeritus? And also Joshua’s succession plans. Since Joshua is in his early 30’s now, this discussion topic doesn’t regularly come up. Interesting.

Reform & Resurge Conference 2006 – First Report

This week I’m in Seattle attending the Reform & Resurge Conference 2006 hosted by Pastor Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church. Mars Hill is somewhat of an anomaly in Seattle – a large, multi site church of 4000+  composed of mostly young adults and young families. Driscoll and team are launching a new network of leaders known as Resurgence, complete with the roll out of a new website – Resurgence.com – a work in progress that will include tons of free resources. Check it out for yourself.

Somewhere between 500-600 pastors are attending the conference here at Mars Hill Church. An interesting speaker line up on the schedule and audio and video tapes are available also. Check the Resurgence.com website.

Coast to Coast Multi Site Conference

In the interest of shameless, but practical promotion, pastors and leadership teams should check out the Coast to Coast Multi Site Conference, May 8-9, sponsored by Leadership Network. Charleston isn’t a bad destination since the golf and fishing is great. The city has a beautiful historic district, a plethora of local arts and fine crafts to purchase and lug home on the plane along with fabulous restaurants guaranteed to empty your wallets in record time. I enthusiastically recommend it! And the conference will probably be pretty good too.
