Life Stages Leadership Community groups are unique among our Leadership Community offerings. Each Life Stage Community group consists of a relational peer network of senior pastors who share similar ministry challenges and who desire connections to others serving in similar ministry career stages.

Top Challenges Faced by Pastors

Here is a great post from Monday Morning Insight, STUDY: Top Challenges Faced by Pastors.

The study came from the Faith Communities Today 2005 survey: What are the major challenges facing your congregation?

Nearly a third mentioned issues related to growth: 15% congregational growth, 8% evangelism; 7% engaging young families.

Close to a quarter mentioned issues related to finances (12%) or physical plant (11%): raising funds, encouraging giving, balancing budgets, building projects, finding facilities to rent or purchase, need of repair, etc.

Other key issues listed: 7% related to spirituality, 6% related to how to energize members and get them involved, and another 6% related to finding a vision for the congregation.

How Do You Rate, Pastor? We thought this was a great post from Todd Rhoades at Monday Morning Insight. He discusses George Barna's findings on what the typical Protestant pastor thinks of himself and his church.

Some of the things he discusses:

1.  Relationships
Question to ask yourself… “Do I have any close friends?”

2.  Teaching & Communication Skills
Question to ask yourself… “Am I an Effective teacher?”

3.  Personalities
Question to ask yourself… “Am I an introvert or an extrovert?”

4.  Risk Taking and Age
Question to ask yourself… “Do I take as many risks in ministry as I used to?”

5.  Quality of Life
Question to ask yourself… “Do I lead a balanced, healthy life?”

6.  Self-Introspection
Question to ask yourself… “What do other people think of me?”
