Our next Next Generation Pastors' Leadership Community meeting is next week, March 14-16, 2011. Here are our Mentor Pastors for the meeting:
Dr. Gene Getz, Pastor Emeritus, Chase Oaks Church, President, Renewal Radio, Richardson, TX
Dr. Getz became involved in church planting and renewal at a practical level while teaching at Dallas Theological Seminary. He launched Fellowship Bible Church in 1972. Committed to biblical absolutes, the church was built on the concept of “freedom in form.” Since that time, 12 independent Fellowship churches have been started in the Dallas metroplex and hundreds of Fellowship churches throughout the U.S. trace their roots back to this movement.
Gene is also a prolific author. Most of his 60 books have grown out of his experience as a pastor. The Measure of a Man and The Measure of a Woman are used around the world for personal and group study. His most recent publication is Elders and Leaders: God’s Plan for Leading the Church. Gene and his son are currently working on a book entitled The Measure of a Young Man which will be published early in 2011.
Gene hosts a daily radio program called Renewal which is aired nationally; designed to unfold personal stories of people who have been transformed by Jesus Christ. It can be heard daily on Sirius Family Channel Network 161 at 12:30 PM (CST). Gene now serves as President of the Center for Church Renewal. He is completing a Bible project using the Holman Christian Standard Bible. It is a Study Bible which contains 1,500 Principles from Genesis to Revelation (to be released in Sept 2011).
Larry Osborne, North Coast Church, Vista, CA
Larry Osborne is a senior pastor at North Coast Church, acclaimed as one of the most influential and innovative churches in America. Under his leadership the church has grown from 128 to over 8,500 on a weekend. Built around sermon-based small groups, North Coast has maintained a participation rate of over 80 percent of its weekend attendance in small groups for over 22 years. Its growth has come strictly by word of mouth as they do not advertize or hold any special outreach events. Also recognized as pioneers in the multi-site movement, North Coast now offers 24 worship options on four local sites each weekend plus numerous national and international venues.
Larry writes and speaks extensively on the subjects of leadership, healthy teams, innovation, multi-site ministry and spiritual formation. His books include, Sticky Teams, Sticky Church, 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe, Spirituality for the Rest of us, and The Unity Factor.
Toby Slough, Cross Timbers Community Church, Argyle, TX
Toby M. Slough is the Senior Pastor of Cross Timbers Community Church in Argyle, Texas, a multi-site church of three campuses and over 4,500 weekly attendees. He is the author of two books: Living the Dream and The Great Adventure. Toby graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1986, and began his ministry reaching high school students in San Antonio, Texas, and Oklahoma City. Shortly, doors opened for him to travel nationwide encouraging teenagers and youth workers. In 1993, he and his family moved to Southlake, Texas, where he served as Preaching Minister for Southlake Boulevard Church. It was there that God gave him a dream to plant a church in the rural community of Argyle. In 2000, along with 12 families, Toby fulfilled that dream when he started Cross Timbers in the back of a bar. With partnerships in both India and Uganda and the launching of Hope for North Texas, an organization committed to involving believers with the poor and broken in their cities, Cross Timbers is beginning to realize their dream of Kingdom impact both locally and around the world.
